I feel like no one ever plans to get sick, but getting sick this past weekend put a damper on my spirit. Why? Because I was in a city that has always been on my bucketlist. It’s the country music capital, Nashville, Tennessee, baby. While I didn’t really go out to any honky-tonks, I was very happy to be able to take in the energy of the city in my short time there.

On a recent trip, my boyfriend and I were out to dinner when he said, “You know, I think this trip has been good for us. I’ve fallen in love with you all over again.” That sentiment is just so sweet, and shows that he always knows how to make my heart melt. It is a great reminder on National Inner Beauty Day that while looks are a nice bonus, they aren’t everything. I’m going to say that since being in this relationship, I’ve put on about twenty pounds and a lot of my clothes don’t fit anymore. There is a significant height difference between us, and as good looking as my boyfriend is, that’s not what attracted me to him. So what is it that we fell in love with that is beyond skin-deep? I love having my own space, because there was a time when I didn’t get a lot of time for myself. However, since moving in with my boyfriend, I really miss him when he travels for long periods of time for work. Luckily, the second he came back, I had him all to myself for a whole weekend. A fun one too, since we had plans to attend a wedding with his family.

So what I really wanted to do for this blog post was share a summer playlist, but the summer is slowly coming to an end since I start grad school next week. Plus, the truth is that I have had this album on repeat since it came out, so even if I were to curate a playlist now, it would probably incorporate all the songs on this album anyway.
At the end of the day, I have been a fan of Sabrina Carpenter since she was on Girl Meets World. I’m a fan of her, her music, and her acting career. She’s been a guest on my favorite podcast, and Sabrina was the first concert that I took my babysister to. So when Olivia Rodrigo dropped “Driver’s License” and her album, the Sabrina fan in me did not want to support her music at all. Not that she needed me to, since everyone knows who Olivia Rodrigo is now.
Since then, Sabrina has been pretty quiet and low-key. Sure, there has been a song here and there, but for the most part, this album has been the first time we’ve really heard from Sabrina since everything happened. So of course, I can’t wait to dissect it, and that is going to be the blog today.

When I hop on this blog, I sometimes find that I struggle to find a topic that I want to write about. To simplify things going forward, I am considering reflecting on the weekend and sharing what I did. This is a lifestyle blog, after all. However, the issue might arise in the scenario when I work the weekends, because then the weekend wrap-up might not be so interesting. This is summer time though, so maybe things will be different and more interesting. Since I did end up having a fun and busy weekend, I thought this would be the week to try writing about it. To continue my rabbit hole through books of contemporary romance, I recently finished The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. I bought it the day before my birthday, and I was trying to read it little by little to draw it out, but I found that I couldn’t resist reading it. Spoiler alert: That’s until I got about halfway through and Adam overheard Olive talking to Malcolm inside the Starbucks on campus, and the conversation Olive had with Adam after made me want to throw the book across the room. My friends all convinced me to finish it though, and it was pretty cute. I would give it 4/5 stars, overall. Anyway, today’s blog is inspired by the books. Each of the chapters has a hypothesis that Olive makes about love and her love life, which kind of foreshadows what happens in each chapter. So for today, I thought I would come up with a few love hypotheses of my own.

You would think that once you graduate high school, you kind of leave it behind you. That’s not the case for me; I feel as though I came into who I was in high school, making it a pivotal time in my life, and some of the really important relationships that I have in my life started in high school. The thing that inspires this blog post? My close relationship with my sister, who was recently asked to prom. It made me happy to hear that she had been asked, even though she has no intention of going. I’m going to assume that she would rather spend the night with me, but I have always been the girl who looked for any excuse to dress up and go get something delicious to eat. For today’s blog post, I wanted to reflect on my prom experience.

Call me a love sick dork, but my boyfriend literally went out of town yesterday and I am this puppy waiting by the phone waiting for every update. There was no way that I would have been able to go though, because this trip had been planned for his graduation before we even knew each other. It has just been rescheduled to now due to the pandemic. That being said, before the pandemic hit, I was lucky enough to have had the opportunity to have him bring me back to his hometown. In honor of Maryland Day, I am going to share those memories today.
