The Weekend of Feeling Like a Woman

At the beginning of the semester, I kind of considered delaying starting graduate school. Why? The Ladygang announced their tour, and I immediately wanted to go and be a groupie, because I absolutely love them. Their podcast is the good part about my weeks, and no show is ever the same because the crowd is never the same. So I considered it for a minute, but I already enrolled in my classes and I couldn’t forget how hard I worked to be in graduate school.

But this past weekend, I got to live out my groupie dreams. I picked up tickets to their last few shows in Phoenix and Denver (because Los Angeles was sold out). So that’s what I did this weekend, and while I missed Asanti, he’s the best for reminding me how important it is to treat myself in the midst of all my hard work.

Breaking Down My Wedding Look

While I typically wouldn’t say that I have style, I can semi-dress myself. I think I started to doubt my fashion recently when my boyfriend made a comment about it (I will unpack that more later). However, I am kind of enjoying the process of unpacking my style and fashion, so I’m probably going to keep doing it (and sharing it here on the blog, of course).

Plus, I think I looked pretty cute, and I’m the one who pulled the look together (with some input here and there). So keep reading if you want to get my look for yourself. Remember, anything that I post is stuff that I buy on my own.

My 70’s Outfit Inspiration

At the end of the day, my outfit really came together for the 70’s event, but would you believe me if I said I really struggled to find something to wear? It’s true; I went through about two-thirds of the mall before I found something I liked, and even then I pitter-pattered around the store for about 30 more minutes feeling unsure about it. For today, I thought I would go through my thought process in choosing my outfit for the event and how I got really lucky at the end of the day.

Why The Bold Type Stands Out

I’m probably late to the party, but I just finished watching all of The Bold Type. It is a show that really stands out in my mind, and I find that it was so refreshing, comfortable, and pleasing to watch that I can’t bring myself to start another television show. At this point in time, I feel like nothing can measure up to the feeling that The Bold Type gives me when I’m watching, so I am avoiding the idea of starting something new.

Fashion Inspo: Whoo Done It?

I’m never going to claim to be a fashionable girly, but when inspiration hits, it hits hard. While it isn’t always a nail on the head, you always have to appreciate what you get when you get it. The story goes that in the face of all my recent moving and unpacking, I came across a hat that inspired a whole outfit.

Dining and Dancing Through Prom Season

You would think that once you graduate high school, you kind of leave it behind you. That’s not the case for me; I feel as though I came into who I was in high school, making it a pivotal time in my life, and some of the really important relationships that I have in my life started in high school. The thing that inspires this blog post? My close relationship with my sister, who was recently asked to prom. It made me happy to hear that she had been asked, even though she has no intention of going. I’m going to assume that she would rather spend the night with me, but I have always been the girl who looked for any excuse to dress up and go get something delicious to eat. For today’s blog post, I wanted to reflect on my prom experience.

Spring Has Sprung Favorites

Before moving to Florida where summer feels like a year-round season, spring was my favorite season as a child. I distinctly remember being in second grade, and the teacher was trying to teach us about the basics when it came to polls and how those numbers worked for math class. She went around and asked us what our favorite seasons were, and got very annoyed when I raised my hand to tell her that she missed me because I was the only one that stood up to vote for spring. While it no longer holds the same place in my heart, I thought that talking about some of my favorite things that spring has to offer will give me something to look forward to this season.

My Short Story Box Buys

Here’s the long story, short: I had a friend who was reviewing personal styling services, and she needed a short person to try out Short Story Box. At 5 feet, I was a great fit. Now, I look forward to putting on a fashion show for my sisters and grandma every month, and I wanted to share my favorite buys today.

My Answers to Vogue’s 73 Questions: Part 1

Am I cool enough to be in Vogue? Probably not. Neither am I ambitious enough to answer these questions on camera in one shot because I’m not so great on camera. What I am going to do is answer these questions and give you some more insight into the person that I am, which is probably sunshine in a little nerd. Even though I’ve tried to break it up into consumable chunks, I can’t promise that my answers will be nice and concise, but they should give you some insight into who I am and what matters to me.
