I feel like no one ever plans to get sick, but getting sick this past weekend put a damper on my spirit. Why? Because I was in a city that has always been on my bucketlist. It’s the country music capital, Nashville, Tennessee, baby. While I didn’t really go out to any honky-tonks, I was very happy to be able to take in the energy of the city in my short time there.

So this weekend wrap-up is coming a little later than I expected, because I needed Monday to recover. Why? Instead of having a whole weekend in Tampa like I originally intended, I ended up traveling back and forth all in one day. I always thought that the first time I went to Tennessee would be to visit Nashville, but I actually went to Memphis back in 2019. I walked through Memphis on my own, actually a couple of blocks away from Beale, and by the time I was on the airplane home, I felt that I experienced all I needed to.

We were in bed watching Tayshia’s season of The Bachelorette together. It was one of the few times my boyfriend was going to endure watching terrible television with me. She was on her one-on-one date with Brendan, and they were riding around LaQuinta on horseback. In that moment, I said, “You know, when I was in seventh grade, I asked my parents for horseback riding lessons for my birthday. My dad said yes, but my mom said no because she thought that it was something that boys do and thought that I would get hurt.” I think that’s where he got the idea for my surprise Valentine’s Day date.
