The Lunar New Year Weekend of 2023

It is Lunar New Year, the new year celebration of many Asian households (at least, my family/local community has just wrapped up celebrating yesterday). I don’t know if I’m at an age where I’m just more aware of how much I don’t know or if I just never really know anything culturally, but I feel like I’ve learned a lot this week.

For example, one of my friends that I’ve made in the grad program is Filipino, and she was telling me about how there are also elements attached to the zodiac animal of the year. This year is apparently the year of the water rabbit. Then, the computer in my apartment complex is the thing that informed me that for the Vietnamese, this is actually the year of the cat. I originally thought it was just clickbait, but when I asked my parents, they said it was true.

So this just might be the year of learning for me. Today, we’re going to dive into my weekend, which has reminded me to be grateful for how lucky I am to live the life that I have.

My Trip Advisor Guide to Disney World

Oh my gosh, it’s Disney Plus Day, but I have to say that I miss going to Disney World. You can make fun of me all you like for being a Disney adult, but Disney played a big role in my college career. Which still feels very fresh, because now I’m in the thick of it again with graduate school.

That’s also the same reason I haven’t gone back, because I don’t know if I can afford it right now. So for Disney Plus Day, I am going to share my personal favorites when it comes to the parks, from my favorite places to grab a bite to my favorite rides, and some of my magic tips. If you get the chance to go, maybe my suggestions will add a little magic to your trip.

What My Lazy Day Looks Like

While today is National Lazy Day, I am probably not having a lazy day right now. If you’re reading this, I am probably at orientation for graduate school, because that is what I have on the schedule bright and early today. But for today’s post, let’s pretend that I am having a lazy day and what that would look like for me. You know, if I could’ve had one today.

Life Is Too Short to Not Eat What You Want

My boyfriend has this joke where the only time I’m not talking is when I’m eating. Then when someone asked him for advice in getting a girlfriend, his answer was something along the lines of, “You play with her hair and you give her ice cream. Then she realizes that she might like you as much as she likes ice cream and then you go from there.” That might not have been an exact quote, but my point in telling all this is that I really love and appreciate food

Planning My 2021 Vacations

While some people might hate the idea of sitting in the car for hours, I have always loved the control that sitting behind the wheel gives me. Keep reading to see where I plan to travel to once I’ve been vaccinated (this probably won’t be all of it, but it is what I have planned for now).

What My Hobbies Say About Me

I’m truly blessed to have the privilege of starting a new job right after graduation. One of the questions that I was asked while in the interview was, “What are some hobbies you do in your free time?” While I’m pretty sure my answer to this question is not the reason I got that job, I wanted to focus on it since this month is National Hobby Month.

My Highs and Lows of 2020

Cheers too 2021! As I settle into the year, I’ve been reflecting on 2020. While it was a wild ride (I’m trying to refrain from saying unprecedented times, but wild ride doesn’t seem to work either), I have to say that this period has proved to be a time of patience, growth, and learning. Maybe I say that as someone who has the privilege that I do, but I truly believe that you can’t experience the highs without the lows. Today, I wanted to take the time to reflect the highs and lows before I manifest for the coming year. Keep reading to find out more.
