This semester has kept me busy, but not busy enough to graduate a full year early. Maybe you can tell by how little I’ve written, but this semester has been a long list of to-dos and deadlines. Between developing my thesis proposal and trying to make sure that I can keep the lights on in my apartment, I am still playing catch-up on my sleep well into summer.
And I know that it is truly summer, because now my sisters are out of school. Kimmy has wrapped up seventh grade, and Jasmine has finished high school. Yesterday I woke up to an email saying that I have grad orientation in two weeks. I don’t know what your first inclination was, but mine was that summer is coming to an end. While that might make some people sad, I actually really enjoy being a student. With learning being one of my core values, I don’t think you’re growing if you’re not learning at least one new thing everyday.
While summer is the season with the longest days of the year, it is quickly wrapping up. And I’m sure that people are trying to squeeze in one last summer vacation or are preparing to shop for the school year, but I have some goals I want to complete before the season is over. I started out this weekend tired, because for me, this weekend started early, and not just because of the holiday weekend. Although, it might be said that my weekend ended earlier because of the holiday, because I ended up working. While I also spent the Fourth of July comforting my dog, I’m pleased to report that I can go into my week well-rested and content.

Instead of having a whole weekend in Tampa like I originally intended, I ended up traveling back and forth all in one day. When I hop on this blog, I sometimes find that I struggle to find a topic that I want to write about. To simplify things going forward, I am considering reflecting on the weekend and sharing what I did. This is a lifestyle blog, after all. However, the issue might arise in the scenario when I work the weekends, because then the weekend wrap-up might not be so interesting. This is summer time though, so maybe things will be different and more interesting. Since I did end up having a fun and busy weekend, I thought this would be the week to try writing about it. I always thought that the first time I went to Tennessee would be to visit Nashville, but I actually went to Memphis back in 2019. I walked through Memphis on my own, actually a couple of blocks away from Beale, and by the time I was on the airplane home, I felt that I experienced all I needed to.
