No weekend blog last week, because all I did was work. This weekend wasn’t too different, but it was more interesting than the last. Before it even started, my boyfriend got one of his wisdom teeth removed, so I was pretty much playing nurse to him. Luckily, all my friends are nurses, so I had some backup if anything went wrong.
Interested? You can keep reading to find out all about it (just don’t expect me in a nurse’s costume or anything… although, I do have some scrubs hiding in my closet. Now I feel like this was a missed opportunity).
A Slumberful Friday
The day started with me waking up early to my boyfriend feeling pain, probably because he thought he had been okay enough to not take the latest round of pain medicine. After I gave him his pills, he couldn’t go back to sleep, so we opted for breakfast to be delivered instead of going out like we originally intended. It was more comfortable that way, and we started watching Westworld before he was ready to go back to bed.
After breakfast though, I was wide awake, and I decided to stay that way. We had an appointment at a car service center because there’s a recall on his vehicle, so I made sure that we got up in time to make that appointment. It seemed that all I needed was the car ride, because when we got back, I was out like a light.
Again, I woke up after a few hours because it was time for him to get another round of pills. The pain was also getting pretty bad, so I also got him an ice pack for his face before I started cooking. He was tired of eating chicken noodle soup for the past couple of days (I was super grateful for the recipe I found on Modern Proper, because he said it tasted better than Panera), but I still wanted to make soft foods in case he hadn’t completely healed.
So I suggested that I used the hot dogs in the fridge to make burnt ends, and we could have it with rice. One of my friends said he saw the recipe on Tik Tok, and lucky for me, there was a recipe on Google, because I’m not on Tik Tok. It took a bit of time, but when I finally ate it, I was taken back to my childhood. My grandma used to cut up and sautee hot dogs in some butter and soy sauce and feed it to me after school because it was quick and easy, and the hot dog burnt ends had a more complex flavor profile of that. It definitely felt like the perfect comfort food to end the day.

Saturday: The Day I Realized Sad Eating is Unsatisfying
A pattern that seems to be appearing as in my life is that I have a tendency to wake up before my boyfriend does. That’s probably because once the sun starts shining through the blinds, my eyes open and I struggle to fall back asleep (will be purchasing curtains after this). So I woke up and medicated him, and then continued reading The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han. My goal for the weekend had been to finish reading the book so I can watch the series on Amazon Prime, but I haven’t been able to yet.
I read until I had to wake my boyfriend up and take him to the barbershop. While he was there, I picked up a crepe, and then he finished early, so I didn’t really get a chance to eat it until we were back at the apartment. However, there had been something weighing on my heart all week, and I had not wanted to have the conversation while he was recovering. But it came up, and so I started talking about it, which basically means I ended up crying about it because the burden was so heavy.
Like always, I was wrong to doubt him, because he was and is very understanding of who I am and how I think. It made me feel foolish for doubting him, and then he said that I should eat my crepe. It wasn’t as good as it usually is, so I am going to blame that on the tears. Because there’s no other answer than that.
A Stereotypical Sunday (For Me, At Least)
If I had consistently kept up this weekend blog, you might notice that I typically work on Sunday, more often than not. This Sunday was no different; I woke up early on Sunday and drove to work. After work, I kept it pretty simple and low-key, visiting my family for dinner. Then, for dessert, we got boba tea from 7 Bubble Tea, which has become one of my favorite bubble tea places to date.

Have you had your wisdom teeth removed? Is there a recipe that you’ve tried lately that you’re raving about? Would you rather work the weekend and have 4 days off, or would you rather keep to the 5 day work week and have the weekend to do you? I would love to know your answers in the comments below!
As always,
Love Always,
Kristi My
