Holiday Season Bucket List

I mentioned in my last blog post (read: 3 Favorite Fall Things) about how the holiday season is my favorite season, and since fall officially started this past week, I thought I would do a roundup of some things that I’m looking forward to. Keep reading for all the things that I’m excited about.

Seeing a Sea Cow in Person

My sister Jasmine went to Blue Springs one time for a school field trip, and since then she always tells me about how we should go see the manatees. I’ve always wanted to, and I always say that we will, but the season always flies by before I can. In my mind, I also always thought that manatee season was in January and February, but the reality is that the best time to see manatees at the springs starts in September and goes until March. That means the opportunities that I have to try and see them this year are much greater than I originally thought, so I am going to make it happen.

Returning to the Magic (Disney)

Yes, I know Disney has been open for a while now with certain rules and regulations, but I have not renewed my annual pass yet. Part of it is because Disney doesn’t really incentivise loyalty so I wasn’t in any hurry, and the other part is that my baby sister hadn’t reached the age where she could be vaccinated yet. Now that she is in the process of getting vaccinated, we have plans to purchase our annual passes again.

I will say that I don’t know if I’m in love with the new pass holder programs that they are instilling. I mean, I know that they have been working on a way to monetize the Fastpasses that they have for rides, but I liked having a package that included the Magic Photopass into the annual pass system. Now it’s an upgrade that you have to pay for, and I am not sure if that makes my pass selection easier or harder. I guess I should just be happy that they’re doing a pass system of some sort, because tickets can be kind of pricey.

Are things bigger in Austin, Texas?

In 2019, I started the year out with my family traveling to Houston, Texas. Now, I have plans of traveling to Austin to see a show and take a weekend to myself. I’m looking forward to it, especially since I have made a friend who lives there, so I’ll have someone to show me around town and experience what Austin has to offer.

ICE! at Gaylord Palms Resort

It doesn’t snow in Florida, so I always wondered how a little winter wonderland can exist in the sunshine state. Apparently it does at Gaylord Palms Resort on an annual basis, and I just haven’t been able to see it with my own eyes. I don’t know why it hasn’t appealed to me more in the past, but for some reason, a part of me wants to bring my sisters this year. It’s probably the part of me that knows I won’t be around forever and wants to make as many memories with them that I can so that they don’t forget about me. I feel a pit of sadness as I think about it, but I’m sure the experience will be better when I’m able to share it with them.

What are you looking forward to this holiday season? Is there anything you’ve been wanting to do but haven’t yet? If you could have one holiday wish granted this season, what would it be? Tell me in the comments below!
