As the summer is wrapping up, I am happy to say that I obtained a downward diagonal bingo on my summer 2024 card. So for today’s blog post, I am going to keep it really simple today and talk about the things that let me claim bingo on my card. I don’t want to let this eclipse the fact that we’re in fall now.
B: Go to the Beach
So the confession I have as someone who lives by the beach is that I don’t go to the beach very often. Maybe part of the reason is because it is right there and I tell myself I can go at any time (so I don’t), or because the beach near me gets so crowded with tourists all the time, but I’m not the typical beach visitor. I had decided to put this on my bingo card because I thought it was a very seasonal activity for some people, and therefore very relevant for my summer bingo card.
I can say that I have gone twice this summer. Once with my sister Kimmy, and another time I’m going to talk about later in this blog post. When I went with my sister Kimmy, we ended up going on a questionable day when it came to the weather. We were told it wouldn’t rain by the internet, and as soon as we arrived, I took to the water because I was hot. It was the perfect temperature to cool me down. As I sat and enjoyed the solitude, I could see a few of the fish swimming in the water.
By the time Kimmy decided she wanted to hop into the water, lifeguards were driving up and down the beach telling everyone to seek shelter because lightning had been spotted in the area. So of course, that cut our beach day short. But I believe this still counts as one of the days I visited the beach.

I: Make Lemonade
This item on my bingo card was inspired by an Instagram post that my sister sent me. The video is no longer up, but the Instagramer was showing how to make flavored lemonade using rock sugar, lemons, and a passionfruit concentrate. It sounded really good, so I’m glad I remembered how to do it.
This ended up being the last task that I completed on my bingo card, and I can see now why the original creator got rid of it. The rock sugar takes a while to dissolve, so this isn’t a mixture you can enjoy right away. It’s actually been a few days, and I am still waiting for some of the rocks to dissolve. I also ended up using a honey jujube concentrate instead of a passionfruit, which might be preserving it.
What I will say is that I like it more when mixed with a sparkling water, because then it feels like I’ve made myself a healthier version of a soda. It is a bit more tepid when I mix it with normal water, but my sister thinks that the original creator mixed it with hot water instead of normal water. This might make a difference in dissolving the rock sugars, so I will probably try it soon.

N: Free Space
Maybe it’s cheap to claim bingo while utilizing this space, but I’m glad I gave myself one. There were activities that I got to appreciate this summer that I couldn’t have predicted, such as going out on a boat, consuming plenty of television, and visiting a theme park, so this space can represent all of those activities.
G: Try 8 New Recipes
I am someone who loves food and loves cooking food, but I noticed that I always turn to make the same set of things. So I included this as a challenge to myself to see if I could meet this task. Eight might seem like an obscure number, but I came to it by predicting that I would try a new recipe every other week from the day I made the card.
In the end, I have actually tried more than eight recipes, some of them good and some of them bad. But I’m actually not going to talk about them here, because I actually love food so much that I made a food blog a while back. So if you’re interested in hearing about that, I would encourage you to keep an eye on anvoisau.com for updates on that matter. You might actually already have a preview in a blog post titled “My Canadian Menu, Inspired by CrowdStrike” if you try to go check it out now.
O: Watch the Sunrise
Since reading about my visits to the beach, you might have been wondering how I would bring up the beach again. This is how: I love going to the beach to watch the sunrise. That is exactly why I visited it the first time over the summer.
I ended up being awake early because I had to take my grandma and mom to the airport, so from there I took myself to the beach. And other than the fact that I should’ve brought sunscreen with me, it was an ideal way to start the day.

And that is how I got summer bingo. Do you have anything you want to hear more about? Are you also glad that summer is over? Is there anything cool that you did? Let me know in the comments below!
