For the past two years, the answer to this question would have easily been somewhere on campus, reading, studying, or barely keeping my eyes open. Now that I’ve graduated, I will say that I am planning to live a little more of my life. So how could you possibly find me, then?
Well, I’m looking to expand my presence enjoying the thing that has become an integral part of life now: the internet. I imagine Gen Z and Generation Alpha are cringing at the fact that I wrote that sentence out, but this is very much the person I am.
Since I had access to it, the internet has been something that I’ve been drawn to, whether it’s watching cover videos on YouTube or feeling a connection within a niche community. So now, while I am in the process of getting my life together, I’m excited to spend a little more time exploring the playground I once knew as I hope to create my own community.
I’ve written this blog post to give you some idea of where to find me on what day of the week, but if you already know or don’t care, then this might not be the blog post for you. Keep reading if you’re interested in playing with me throughout the week.
Mondays: Right Here
Website: kristimy.com
If you’re reading this or subscribed to the blog already (which is something you should totally do) then you know I plan to post right here on Mondays. I’ve had this blog for years, and while it has changed a lot throughout, I plan to keep it because it’s something I consistently run back to. Plus, I don’t (I hope) have to worry about this place shutting down randomly (Yes, I’m making a reference to how there are constant talks to ban Tik Tok from the US).
Moving forward, I probably won’t do a weekend round-up unless something really interesting happens, but it will be a place for me to share some current thoughts and ideas that I have. Something I’ve heard very often on the internet is that you become very successful by having a niche, but I still don’t think I have one yet. Unless I’m able to count that I love learning a little bit about everything, then that would be the niche that I bring forth. The point is, you can find me here at kristimy.com on Mondays.
From the blog
Tuesdays: Professional Spaces
Website: thekmdcreativeco.com
LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kristimydao/
When I was in graduate school, I took a professional development class where I had to design a professional website for myself. Even though I have this blog, I don’t think I was mentally prepared to expose myself to my peers by showing them a blog I’ve been writing throughout my life, so I made a new one for the sole purpose of graduate school-related endeavors.
I chose Tuesdays for my professional stuff because oftentimes, new books get released on Tuesdays. I thought that would tie in well with the fact that my career goal is to end up in the publishing industry, so over on that website and on my LinkedIn, you’ll find content related to professional development, books, and my academic endeavors.
Wednesdays: In Your Ear
Website: https://daontime.podbean.com/
Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0BzsnpeneHmuu9oP8C07g4?si=WXniF_HRRtKth96DyM691A
At least, I hope I’ll be in your ear. Before I started graduate school, I also started a podcast. As I got busy with life again, I let it fall by the wayside, like I often did here on the blog. I hope to continue having honest conversations over on the podcast.
It might not come as a surprise to anyone, but I don’t talk much when you have me in person. I like to observe and take in my surroundings, often ruminating on them for later. This is why I think I would do well in the podcasting space, and the thing I love about it is that I have an opportunity to build a community of my own, like I’m trying to do here.
Thursdays: Watch Me
YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@KristiMyVlog
Or maybe don’t? Because as I go over to that page to grab that link for you, I am very much cringing at it. But in all honesty, YouTube was the first social media site I fell in love with when I got on the internet, so I think it would be fitting for me to give it a try. What I fell in love with were music videos and the instant access to so many of them, and then cover videos done by some crazy talented people. I don’t have that kind of talent, so we will see what I can pull up with my brain to put there.
I am also going to say that, because video and audio editing are so time intensive and I am very much an amateur when it comes to those skills, my videos probably won’t be timely. I actually have recorded a bunch of videos since the first one I posted in 2021, and I just never had the time to sit down and edit them, so they might just be given new life as I try and kickstart this back up again.
Fridays: Feast with Me
Website: https://www.anvoisau.com/
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anvoisau
Atmosfy: https://atmosfy.io/anvoisau
Something that I have always loved is alliteration, so I thought that it was fitting for me to share food-related things on Friday. I started my food blog in honor of the love of food I have, which was fostered by my Grandma Sau.
I’ve posted on it off and on throughout the past few years, but I have to tell you the thing that will make it interesting now: my grandma has decided that she wants to move closer to the rest of her family, which is on the other side of the country from me. So aside from sharing some of my favorite food places, the blog will show me trying to figure out how to recreate some of my favorite dishes that she used to make.
Vietnamese restaurants do not compare to Grandma Sau’s home cooking; I have yet to have an experience where it comes within a mile of it. I’m not even sure I could come within a mile, so we will have to wait and see (over on that blog, at least).
Weekends: Follow Me on Social Media to Find Out
Most links can be found here: https://kristimydarling.carrd.co
As much as I love the internet, being on it all the time probably is not good for my health (mental and physical), but if you’re really interested, I’ve shared most of my links in this post, and that Carrd link links to the other places that I didn’t link.
Are there pockets of the internet that I should visit that I haven’t listed here? What social media platform do you love? How do you like to spend your time when you unplug? I would love to know in the comments down below.
At this point, I’ve pointed you to a lot of places where you can probably find me, so I want to take a moment to thank you for sticking with me and continuing to support me by reading this. If you appreciated it, please take the time to let me know by liking this post and commenting your thoughts down below. Moreover, it would mean the world to me if you like this post and want to get updates when I share more on here, it is important for you to take the time to subscribe to this blog.
Love Always,
Kristi My
